Hosted by PwC Portugal on 27 January 2025, during the week that marks the 8th anniversary of SIGA’s legal constitution, the Lisbon FITS Forum agenda features discussions with prominent industry leaders, including senior representatives from governments, regulatory and supervisory authorities, international organizations, sports governing bodies, business leaders, and anti-corruption experts. Attendees will engage in thought-provoking debates, confronting critical and uncomfortable topics, including, but not limited to:

  • The emergence and predominance of investment funds in European club football and their implications on financial integrity and long-term sustainability.
  • Multi-club ownership regulations and supervision, and the urgent need for robust governance frameworks to preserve fair competition.
  • The Clearing House System for Financial Transactions in European football and its role in enhancing integrity, transparency ans accountability in Sport’s related financial transactions;
  • Financial sustainability, integrity and transparency at European club and world club level.
  • The G20 and prevention of corruption, money laundering and tax evasion in Sport;
  • The creation, operation and envisaged impact of the European Union’s Anti-Money Laundering Authority (AMLA) in countering money laundering and terrorism financing associated with Sport.

In the aftermath of the New York FITS Forum held in New York in June 2024 — where the world’s leading experts underscored the imperative of coordinated action to tackle corruption, money laundering, and tax evasion —  the European edition will deepen these discussions to further SIGA’s mission of preventing and combating financial crime in Sport.

The outcomes of the New York FITS Forum culminated in the New York Declaration, a landmark initiative calling for collective global action to safeguard Sport. With that foundation firmly established, the Lisbon FITS Forum will now delve deeper into ways to advance financial integrity across borders.

By focusing on strengthening governance frameworks, promoting public-private cooperation, and leveraging innovative strategies to foster accountability and good governance, the event aims to spur systemic reform. Ultimately, the Lisbon FITS will serve as a catalyst for evolving best practices and policies that meet the Sport industry’s fast-changing financial landscape.

Stay tuned for further announcements regarding confirmed speakers and the full agenda of the Anti-Corruption Week.
