The 2025 SIGAWomen Global Mentorship Programme has officially launched, celebrating its first “How to Mentor” session ahead of International Women’s Day. Hosted by Katie Simmonds, Chair of SIGAWomen, this inaugural session marked the start of the largest edition ever, gathering 300 participants, including 150 mentors and 150 mentees, from across the globe.
This landmark edition underscores the programme’s impressive growth and international impact, featuring participants from 50+ countries. Katie Simmonds highlighted the global reach and transformative potential of the programme, reinforcing SIGA’s commitment to fostering leadership and gender equity within the sports industry.
During the engaging session, 45 mentors had the opportunity to introduce themselves, sharing their motivation for joining and insights into their professional journeys. Notably, the event saw many new faces alongside returning mentors, demonstrating the enduring positive impact and strong community built through the programme.
Initiated in 2018 and expanded since 2021, the SIGAWomen Global Mentorship Programme supports aspiring female leaders in sport aged 21 and over. Participants gain exclusive access to eight insightful digital workshops, covering vital topics such as leadership, athlete transition, governance, and mental health, alongside personalized bilateral mentoring sessions. Additional benefits include networking opportunities, complimentary passes to premier SIGA events and potential volunteering and internship opportunities at SIGAWomen.
Committed to inclusivity, the programme offers a limited number of scholarship opportunities for eligible applicants. All proceeds support SIGAWomen initiatives, driving diversity and gender equity at senior leadership levels within the sports sector.
In the following weeks, SIGAWomen team will be pairing mentees and mentors, according to their interests and experience. This gives prospective mentees one more opportunity to apply, and join the programme. The modest fee can be covered by the mentees’ employer and SIGAWomen is actively looking for partners to further accelerate the growth of this unstoppable mission and meet the goal of connecting 1,000 women in 2026.
The first digital session for mentees is scheduled to happen in 30 April. Check the calendar here.
