The renowned sports magazine Placar, from Brazil, is the latest Media Partner of the Sport Integrity Global Alliance (SIGA). Historical magazine, founded in 1970, with 1.6 million followers on Facebook, 586 K on Instagram, Placar became the 30th member of this alliance. Last week, Placar subscribed SIGA Media Partners’ joint declaration on Sport Integrity.

Among Media Partners, SIGA has the active participation in South America of As, namely through the director of the newspaper in Colombia, Sarah Castro; of the website Regata News, in Brazil, and also of CADERO, Argentinean Chamber of Online Radios.

Fabio Altman, Placar chief-editor, explains why the magazine, which operates within the scope of the newsmagazine Veja, joined this unstoppable movement to reform sport.

Throughout 50 years of history, Placar has always sought to stay close to the spirit of its time. Today, there is no doubt, football needs to be aware of society’s demands for gender equality, against racism and for permanent vigilance against financial excesses and corruption. Football, as a portrait of a healthy daily life, perhaps the most influential popular phenomenon in the world, draws from the world around it – and influences it, decisively. Placar is proud to be SIGA’s media partner, a beacon that will help us tread the path of ethics, without detours. As Italian coach Arrigo Sacchi said: ‘Football is the most important thing among the least important things‘”.

Disclaimer: The agreement to join efforts with SIGA does not involve any financial transactions, ensuring respect for the values of a free press and the independence of each of the Media Partners and SIGA. It also doesnt include any obligation that would threaten editorial freedom. SIGA will cooperate at all-time with the Media Partners upon their request, keep them informed about the Alliance activities and Integrity issues, and promote mutual participation in initiatives regarding Sport Integrity awareness and promotion.
