The Sport Integrity Global Alliance (SIGA) has just announced an internal restructuring designed to capitalize on new opportunities, and achieve three core strategic objectives established at the beginning of the year:

  • Business Development, Enhanced Revenue Generation, and Long-Term Sustainable Development of SIGA;
  • Implementation of the SIGA Universal Standards on Sport Integrity and SIRVS; and
  • Growth, Cultivation, and Enlargement of the SIGA Membership Base

To this end, a series of enhancements have been implemented to further strengthen SIGA’s operational capacities, efficiency, and strategic impact:

  • Appointment of Dr. Iain Lindsay as Global Chief Operating Officer. Dr. Lindsay joined SIGA in 2019 as Senior Director of Research, Knowledge, and Innovation. He has since played a pivotal role in numerous projects, initiatives, and funded research efforts. He has extensive leadership and diverse experience in Sport.
  • Appointment of Filipe Guimarães as Senior Director of Business Development and Partnerships. 
    Filipe is an experienced Strategic Business Consultan that specializes in Place Branding, FDI, Business Development, Strategy, Innovation, and Economic Diplomacy. He will be in charge of increasing and diversifying SIGA income streams and revenue generation, developing new business opportunities, and further expanding SIGA’s relationships with its members and global partners.
  • Establishment of Task Forces to Review SIGA Universal Standards on Sport Integrity: SIGA has invited its members to nominate representatives to participate in the task forces that will take the reviews in hands.
  • Key Promotions:
    • Nuno Perestrelo, previously Director of Communication and Media, is now Senior Director of Communication, Media, and Thought Leadership Events.
    • Vinicius Sousa, Senior Director of Institutional Relations and Strategic Partnerships, SIGA LATIN AMERICA, will now also serve as Senior Director of International Cooperation & Strategic Partnerships (Americas) at headquarters.
    • Francisco Melo, previously Executive Assistant to the Executive Committee, has been promoted to Chief of CEO’s Cabinet and Head of Administration and Membership Affairs.
  • Updated Thought Leadership Events Calendar: Highlights include the Football Integrity Forum (Porto, September 2024), the Sport Integrity Week (Global, November 2024), and the International Summit for Sport Integrity, the new flagship event to be held in April or May 2025 (more info here).
