Emanuel Macedo de Medeiros, CEO of SIGA and Chairman & CEO of SIGA AMERICA, on the postponement of the sixth edition of the SIGA Sport Integrity Forum:
“In consultation with the Permanent Committee of the SIGA Council, we must regrettably postpone the VI SIGA Sport Integrity Forum and General Assembly in New York, on 24-25 March. This decision was made taking into serious consideration the current status and uncertainty of the Coronavirus spread around the world, increasing travel restrictions and the state of emergency recently declared by the Governor of New York, as well as our commitment to the health and well-being of our speakers, supporters, partners and participants.
While very disappointed, I would like to express, on behalf of SIGA and SIGA AMERICA, our deep appreciation to the vast number of leading organisations and influential leaders who had committed to speaking at the Sport Integrity Forum. We count on their support and participation when the time is suitable to commence the Forum and General Assembly, hopefully by this Autumn.
We are deeply grateful to Mastercard, CSM North America and Edelman for their sponsorship and in-kind contributions, as well as to everyone involved on our thought leadership events.
Thank you for your understanding and relentless support. The fight for Sport Integrity is not a convenience. It is a necessity and a top priority. We will not slow down on our efforts. On the contrary, with the active engagement of our growing community and support of all like-minded organisations, we will use this time to continue moving our agenda forward and implementing the much-needed integrity reforms across the whole industry.”
