Following overwhelming interest in SIGA’s #TakeCharge campaign, today SIGA is announcing the establishment of a Youth Council for Sport Integrity.
The Youth Council, now open to applications from those aged 18-25, is created as part of SIGA’s commitment to engage young people in sport integrity and governance matters, in an effort to instigate long lasting reform by including and empowering the next generation of sport integrity leaders.
The SIGA Youth Council is dedicated to providing young people a voice at the highest levels of SIGA’s decision-making to ensure its reform agenda and associated collective actions are inclusive, diverse and representative of all generations.
The young people that will join the SIGA Youth Council will consist of individuals from different continents, with different backgrounds and skills, including, but not limited to, sports, technology, and communications.
The SIGA Youth Council will have a range of responsibilities across all SIGA work streams, and operational autonomy, including directly contributing to a Youth Forum, content generation and advocacy in a variety of forms. Notably, the Chair and Vice-Chair will also have a seat on the SIGA Council, thus ensuring the views of the younger generations are duly taken into account and represented.
The application process for the SIGA Youth Council will remain open until 28th August. To apply interested candidates should send a cover letter and brief CV to [email protected]. The SIGA Youth Council will be announced during the SIGA Sport Integrity Week, between 07 th and11th of September.
On a call for action addressed to world’s Youth, Emanuel Macedo de Medeiros, CEO of SIGA and Chairman and CEO of SIGA America, said:
“Aren’t you sick and tired of being told it’s not your turn? If you are the future, how can the future be shaped without your active engagement? Sport Integrity will only be as strong as you want it to be. That’s why your voice needs to be heard. Take charge. Use your power. Grasp this opportunity. Help us to instill real cultural change and integrity values in sport. Together, we can do it.”
SIGA STRIVES Measure 25 will be announced next week. Stay tuned.
