Sports Betting operators and representatives of the Brazilian Government attended the inaugural meeting
SIGA LATIN AMERICA has officially launched the FAIR Platform (FAIR – Fórum de Apostas, Integridade e Regulação; or, in English, Sports Betting, Integrity and Regulation Forum), marking a crucial step in advancing sports betting integrity across Brazil.
The inaugural meeting gathered representatives from all sports betting operators that are members of SIGA LATIN AMERICA, alongside SIGA representatives and key Brazilian government officials, including Giovanni Rocco Neto, National Secretary of Sports Betting and Economic Development of Sport at the Ministry of Sport, and Regis Dudena, Secretary of Prizes and Betting at the Ministry of Finance.
The FAIR platform is designed to create a collaborative and transparent environment for sports betting operators and stakeholders to address common challenges, share insights, and strengthen integrity within the sports betting sector.
Key Objectives of FAIR:
- Fostering an ongoing dialogue and cooperation between SIGA LATIN AMERICA and its members on all matters of common interest related to the sports betting sector;
- Promoting the exchange of knowledge, best practices, and information related to the regulation of the sports betting industry and the safeguarding of sport integrity:
- Facilitating consensus on key issues of mutual interest and ensuring the alignment of governance and activities with current legislation and SIGA’s Universal Standards on Sports Integrity;
- Analysing and discussing the main problems, threats, and challenges facing the sports betting industry, as well as identifying the most effective solutions and reforms to address them successfully; and
- Supporting SIGA LATIN AMERICA’s efforts to promote greater integrity and credibility within the sports and betting industries, enabling it to act as a credible interlocutor with relevant state, federal, and international authorities.
The benefits for Sports Betting Operators include, but are not limited to:
- Access to valuable Industry Insights from industry peers, which will help operators stay ahead of trends and challenges;
- Unified advocacy for Sport Integrity;
- Engagement in relevant discussions on sustainability and governance improvements within the sports industry; and
- Staying ahead of upcoming regulatory changes to ensure compliance and proactive adjustments.
The FAIR platform will be managed by the administration of SIGA LATIN AMERICA, supported by an informal Steering Committee consisting of representatives appointed by the members. The collaborative Forum will join other SIGA structures at both the global and continental levels, including the Permanent Committees on Integrity and Sports Betting, further strengthening SIGA LATIN AMERICA’s commitment to promoting integrity in the sports betting sector.
Emanuel Macedo de Medeiros, Chairman and CEO of SIGA LATIN AMERICA and Global CEO of SIGA, highlighted the commitment of the organization to fostering a secure and responsible environment for the sports betting sector in Brazil:
“The launch of FAIR marks a major milestone in our collective commitment to promoting integrity in Brazil’s sports betting industry.
As demonstrated during this inaugural meeting, the FAIR collaborative platform provides a solid foundation for sports betting operators. By fostering a network based on shared values and mutual interests, FAIR empowers operators to stay ahead of emerging challenges while upholding the highest standards of integrity and governance. It enables the industry to self-regulate effectively and prevent — or at least mitigate — the growing threats facing the sector.
FAIR will also serve as a vital hub for sharing information, knowledge, and expertise. Through the exchange of best practices and consensus-building, it will contribute to the credibility, reputation, and sustainable development of the entire sports betting ecosystem.
The full participation of all sports betting operators affiliated with SIGA LATIN AMERICA in this inaugural session deserves special recognition. Equally noteworthy was the presence of two senior members of Brazil’s federal government — National Secretaries Giovanni Rocco and Regis Dudena. Their engagement underscores the importance of SIGA LATIN AMERICA’s mission and the vital role we are playing in building a safe, trustworthy, and well-regulated sports betting market.
We could not ask for more from this kick-off meeting!”
