The Paulista Football Federation (FPF) was formally recognised for its enduring commitment to Integrity in Sport and long-term cooperation with the world’s leading Sport Integrity Organisation, SIGA. To commemorate the occasion, Reinaldo Carneiro Bastos, President of the FPF, was publicly recognised by Emanuel Macedo de Medeiros, SIGA’s Global CEO, for his on-going commitment and support to SIGA’s reform agenda.
Emanuel Macedo de Medeiros, highlighted the ongoing collaboration with the Paulista Football Federation (FPF) and the commitment of its leaders to fulfilling the shared vision of Sport Integrity:
“This is a recognition of five years of close, dedicated, and committed collaboration, grounded in a shared set of values. Together, through this partnership, we strive to build a better future for Sport, fully aware of the vital role football plays from a human, social, cultural, and economic perspective.
If there was ever a time when football was called upon to fulfil its societal mission, it is now, in these challenging times we are living through. And none of this would be possible without organisations that go above and beyond — because they are led by individuals who lead by example, who inspire belief and instigate action. True leaders!
This institution is home to people and organisations who live and breathe football, who have devoted years to the sport they love. What makes them truly unique is not only what they have already achieved, which is considerable, but what they are still destined to accomplish.
That is why, for SIGA and for me personally, it has been a true pleasure and a privilege to share this common journey, which began when we first signed our cooperation agreement in Rome, in February 2020.
Since then, we’ve been through a lot — including a global pandemic — and we are building bridges toward a future anchored in these shared values. A future that adds value to football institutions at the international, national, and regional levels, and its vats ecosystem.
Because football is beautiful, it is passion, and also integrity, I stand here today to express our recognition for the unwavering support and trust we have received. For the dedication and encouragement shown. And for helping us believe that it is indeed possible to aim higher and go further.”
Reinaldo Carneiro Bastos, President, Paulista Football Federation, added:
“I met Emanuel Macedo de Medeiros five years ago, in Rome. We were at the brink of the COVID outbreak and left Europe on the last flights heading to Brazil. We immediately started working with SIGA on a shared vision, as we understood early on that doing things the right way, being honest and transparent, is actually much easier.
Our challenge is a big one, and we’ve only covered a small part of the journey. Ahead of us lies the tremendous challenge of making Brazilian football — this national passion — a true example off the pitch as well. We will relentlessly pursue that goal.”
The SIGA delegation also included Katie Simmonds, Chair of the SIGAWomen Council and SIGA’s Global Chief Commercial Officer, and André Megale, Director of Good Governance and Integrity, SIGA LATIN AMERICA.
The ever-increasing role of SIGA LATAM was emphasised in recent days by the successful launch of the first Brazilian edition of the Summit on Female Leadership in Sport. The impactful SIGA LATIN AMERICA agenda, was further advanced in São Paulo during a series of high-profile stakeholder meetings that saw Emanuel Macedo de Medeiros engage with a variety of like-minded and supportive members of the Sport Ecosystem, including but not limited to visiting the FPF headquarters, where he held a strategic meeting with Reinaldo Carneiro Bastos and Vice President Mauro Silva to align on mutual goals.
These meetings are indicative of the expanding commitment of LATAM organisations to join SIGA and help facilitate a vision of Sport that is governed and played under the highest Integrity standards — free from unethical, illicit, and criminal activity — to protect its values and ensure positive impact for everyone. These collaborations will ensure that the future of Sport, particularly football, will be rooted in the highest standards of Governance and Integrity — serving athletes, fans, and all stakeholders in a responsible and sustainable manner.
