The Sport Integrity Global Alliance (SIGA) has announced the appointment of two new athletes to join the SIGA Champions programme — a global network of sportspeople committed to promoting the highest standards of integrity in sport. The announcement was made during the visit of Emanuel Macedo de Medeiros, SIGA’s Global CEO, to Brazil, as part of the ongoing efforts to advance SIGA LATIN AMERICA’s agenda.
With these new additions, the SIGA Champions network now comprises 25 athletes and coaches from around the world.
The newly appointed SIGA Champions, both football legends, are, in alphabetical order:
- Mauro Silva – A FIFA World Cup winner with Brazil’s men team in 1994 and a legend at Deportivo La Coruña, Mauro Silva is widely respected for his ethical conduct on and off the pitch. After retiring, he dedicated himself to institutional roles, including serving as Vice President of the Paulista Football Federation, promoting education, ethics, and integrity in football. He is also a CONMEBOL Ambassador to Brazil; and
- Tamires Dias – With over 100 caps for the Brazilian women’s national team, Tamires is a standout figure in football. She paused her career at 21 to become a mother and later returned to the highest level of competition, becoming a symbol of resilience. Off the field, she is a passionate advocate for gender equity in Sport.
Emanuel Macedo de Medeiros, SIGA’s Global CEO, welcomed the new Champions:
“We are proud to welcome Mauro Silva and Tamires Dias, two phenomenal football legends, as the newest SIGA Champions. As exceptional athletes with remarkable careers, both nationally and internationally, they are widely respected and serve as true role models. Their dedication, leadership, and values reflect the very essence of Integrity in Sport. By joining the SIGA Champions community, now 25 strong and proudly including 15 women, Mauro and Tamires bring powerful voices that will help drive our mission forward. Their influence will be instrumental in inspiring positive change and promoting a culture of integrity throughout the world of sport. We are deeply grateful for their commitment and honored to have them wear the SIGA Champions shirt”.
Mauro Silva, Vice-President of the Paulista Football Federation:

I believe that sport has a transformative role in society, and with integrity, inclusion, accountability, and conscious leadership, we can build a better future — both on and off the field. Tamires Dias, professional football player, Corinthians women, stated:
“Sharing my own journey and listening to others are essential steps toward building a fairer sport, with greater visibility and opportunities for women. It is an honour to join the SIGA Champions Programme. I deeply believe in the values SIGA stands for — such as integrity, fair play, honesty, and teamwork — and I am fully committed to promoting these ideals both on and off the pitch.”
