São Paulo was the stage for a high-level closed-door Roundtable on Sponsorship & Sport Integrity, hosted by Octagon Latam in partnership with the Sport Integrity Global Alliance (SIGA). This invitation-only event, held under Chatham House rules, brought together senior representatives from global sponsors, senior executives, and leaders from across the sports industry..
The session opened with strategic remarks from Maria Vianna, Executive Account Director Brazil & Latam of Octagon Latam, and Emanuel Macedo de Medeiros, Global CEO of SIGA, who have set the tone for an open exchange on the reputational challenges facing sport, the role and expectations of sponsors, and significance of the SIGA Universal Standards on Sport Integrity to preserve and enhance brand value and public trust.
Another key point of discussion was the importance of the SIGA Independent Rating and Verification System (SIRVS) – a groundbreaking tool designed to independently audit sports organisations and rate their level of compliance with the SIGA Universal Standards on Good Governance in Sport, Financial Integrity in Sport, Sports Betting Integrity, Youth Sports Development and Protection of Young Athletes and, soon, Environment and Sustainability in Sport.. In a context of growing globalisation and increasingly complex and sophisticated global challenges, reputational risks are rising and stakeholders are calling for accountability and independent scrutiny , SIRVS empowers brands to make informed decisions on who and what to sponsor, avoiding potential reputational damages, shielding their brand value and own reputation, and playing decisive role in promoting integrity in sport.
