SIGA is proud to announce Twentytwo13 as one of the pioneering media organisations committed to working towards the reform of the sports industry and the worldwide implementation of the SIGA Universal Standards on Sport Integrity.

SIGA and Malaysian news site Twentytwo13.my agreed to extend the existing Media Partnership made for Sport Integrity Week 2021, making it permanent and part of an ongoing commitment to advancing SIGA’s global mission encapsulated by the Sport Integrity Goals.

A team of award-winning media personalities delivers Twentytwo13 news daily, focusing, in their words “on issues that matter to the people.”.

Sport and integrity related matters – such as racism, women empowerment, and corruption, etc – are among the main stories Haresh Deol, editor, and his team run daily.

After covering the Sport Integrity Week 2021, the synergies between SIGA and the Twentytwo13’s approach to journalism became more than evident, leading to this  step.

Haresh Deol, editor and co-founder of Twentytwo13 explained the reasons for continuing its partnership with SIGA on a permanent basis:

“Twentytwo13 strongly believes in integrity, and the offer to be SIGA’s permanent media partner is an acknowledgement of our work. We are humbled by the gesture. This will further motivate the team at Twentytwo13 to put forward people’s perspectives while breaking boundaries. Through this partnership, we will continue to champion integrity in sports”.

SIGA’s Global CEO, Emanuel Macedo de Medeiros, on his side, emphasised once again the role of free media, and independent journalism, towards implementing the highest ethical conduct not only in Sport, but in all social sectors:

“The responsibility of checking facts and the power of asking questions are true pillars of democracy. That is why journalists are among the fiercest enemies of all criminal activity. Their role is essential for everyone who wants to live in a fair world, and that is why SIGA will always support investigative journalism and independent media organisations. We invite all media organisations to support SIGA mission and vision of a world free of criminal infiltration in Sport. Being a permanent SIGA Media Partner is, at this time, a chance to pioneer the most needed reform in Sport.”

Twentytwo13 is the first media organisation from Southeast Asia to team up with SIGA to usher sport into a new era of integrity.

Among SIGA’s sphere, Twentytwo13 will join UK based news website Inside World Football, AIPS (International Sports Press Association), and Portuguese CNID (National Club of Sports Press), all of them committed supporters.

In the following weeks, SIGA will announce further Permanent Media Partners. Stay tuned!

Disclaimer: The agreement to join efforts with SIGA does not involve any financial transactions, ensuring respect for the values of a free press and the independence of each of the Media Partners and SIGA. It also doesn’t include any obligation that would threaten editorial freedom. SIGA will cooperate at all-time with the Media Partners upon their request, keep them informed about the Alliance activities and Integrity issues, and promote mutual participation in initiatives regarding Sport Integrity awareness and promotion.
