Emanuel Macedo de Medeiros has just submitted his candidacy for the position of Global Chief Executive Officer of the Sport Integrity Global Alliance (SIGA) for the 2026–2030 term.
In a formal communication addressed to the SIGA Council, he confirmed his intention to seek re-election and presented his Electoral Manifesto, entitled “Making Integrity Irreversible.”
In his candidacy statement, Emanuel Macedo de Medeiros commented:
“Sport is changing fast, and so must we. The way it’s played, consumed, and financed is evolving at supersonic speed — and with that transformation comes both opportunity and risk to its integrity.
The question is simple: are we going to act now, or are we going to risk losing everything that makes Sport great?
I’ve made my choice. I’m running for a third term because the work we’ve started at SIGA must be completed. We’ve made tremendous progress. We’ve laid the foundations for a stronger, more transparent and more accountable Sport. But the real work — the implementation — is now ahead of us.
The time for pledges and promises is over. We’re in the era of delivery. This is about action, impact, results — nothing less. Integrity isn’t a dream; it’s a reality we’re building now to be embedded.
This is our moment, and our collective responsibility: to set a new industry standard. SIGA is ready to lead the way and will not stop until this mission is completed – with every Sport, in every country, SIGA certified – to ‘Make Integrity Irreversible’”.
The manifesto sets out a focused programme aimed at strengthening SIGA’s institutional capability and accelerating the global implementation of its Sport Integrity reform agenda. The agenda prioritizes governance coherence, sustainable funding, operational readiness, and disciplined execution across SIGA’s global and continental structures.
Key initiatives outlined in the manifesto include:
- Scaling the worldwide adoption of the SIGA Universal Standards on Sport Integrity.
- Expanding the SIRVS independent rating, certification, and accreditation framework.
- Reinforcing the Sport Transparency Index.
- Launching IRIS – the Integrity Risk Intelligence System – to address emerging digital, financial, and transnational risks to Sport governance and integrity.
- Developing new Universal Standards on AI and Sport Integrity, and on Social and Environmental Sustainability in Sport.
- Strengthening safeguarding and youth protection mechanisms.
- Expanding engagement with governments, international organizations, and the private sector.
- The strategic transformation of SIGA’s Membership Experience, with a focus on engagement, participation, and tangible value delivery.
The manifesto affirms that integrity in Sport is a shared responsibility. In addition to sports organizations, governments, international institutions, sponsors, broadcasters, commercial partners, and civil society must all actively advance and enforce SIGA’s reform agenda, including the adoption of the SIGA Universal Standards and the SIRVS independent rating and certification.
In accordance with SIGA’s electoral procedures, candidacies remain open until 11 March 2026. The election process will take place in two stages to ensure robust democratic legitimacy. First, the Global CEO is elected by the SIGA Council, requiring a qualified majority of at least two-thirds of the votes. The result is then submitted for ratification by SIGA’s Members at the Annual General Assembly, to take place on 14 April 2026 in Lisbon, Portugal.
