The Sport Integrity Global Alliance (SIGA) has launched the French-language edition of the SIGA Universal Standards on Good Governance in Sport, expanding access to its global framework for stronger governance, transparency and accountability across the sports industry.
The publication in French reflects SIGA’s commitment to widening access to the Standards and supporting their adoption and implementation by sports organisations worldwide.
French is one of the world’s major international languages and has a particularly significant presence across global sport. It is widely used by international and national sports organisations and across countries in Europe, Africa, North America and other regions where sport plays an important social and economic role. The new edition therefore provides federations, leagues, clubs, public authorities, regulators and other sports stakeholders across the French-speaking world with direct access to the SIGA Universal Standards on Good Governance in Sport in French.
The SIGA Universal Standards on Good Governance in Sport constitute one of the four core pillars of the wider set of SIGA Universal Standards on Sport Integrity, alongside the SIGA Universal Standards on Financial Integrity in Sport, the SIGA Universal Standards on Sports Betting Integrity and the SIGA Universal Standards on Youth Development and Protection in Sport.
The SIGA Universal Standards on Good Governance in Sport establish a global framework of governance principles, rules and procedures for sports organisations to adopt and implement. Founded on democracy, transparency, accountability and meaningful stakeholder representation, they define how sports bodies should be organised, how their powers should be exercised and how those responsible should be held to account. They comprise three cumulative levels of implementation—Bronze, Silver and Gold—and provide the basis for independent assessment through the SIGA Independent Rating and Verification System (SIRVS).
The French edition joins the existing Italian, English, and Portuguese versions of the SIGA Universal Standards on Good Governance in Sport, further strengthening SIGA’s drive to establish a common integrity framework that can be applied across sports, jurisdictions, and continents.
Through the SIGA Universal Standards on Sport Integrity and the SIGA Independent Rating and Verification System (SIRVS), SIGA is advancing a global model in which good governance is not simply declared, but independently assessed and verified.
Definition checked against the published SIGA Universal Standards on Good Governance in Sport and their implementation guidelines: democracy, transparency, accountability and stakeholder representation; governance structures and controls; cumulative Bronze, Silver and Gold implementation. Adoption is distinguished from independent assessment through SIRVS. The formal titles of the four sets of Standards follow the author’s instructions.
