The Sport Integrity Global Alliance (SIGA) announces Santa Casa da Misericórdia de LisboaDepartamento de Jogos (SCML – Gaming Department) as a Sport Integrity Week 2022 Silver Partner. This landmark Sport Integrity event begins next Monday in Portugal, Cascais, Nova SBE, and online, and will run from 12 to 16 September.

With less than a week to go until #SIW2022 kick-off, the number of partners continues to grow, demonstrating the unprecedented level of stakeholder engagement with Sport Integrity.

Established in august 1498 by the Queen of Portugal D. Leonor, SCML is a private institution of public administrative utility. Since its inception SCML has become synonymous with acts of alignment to social values. Joining SIGA is another example of their affirmative actions, positioning Integrity alongside Social Action, Health Care, Culture, Education and Training, as the core missions embraced by the organisation.

During #SIW2022, the Portuguese Holy House of Mercy will participate in the panel discussion “Risky business: new market opportunities and challenges in sports betting integrity”, on the topic of Betting Integrity.

#SIW2022 is the third edition of the leading global event on Sport Integrity and will include an in-person element for the first time since it was launched during the covid-19 pandemic. The Sport Integrity Week will unite Sport’s leading stakeholders and engage them with SIGA’s global movement to adopt enhanced governance standards, bringing greater integrity, transparency, and accountability to the industry.

SCML Gaming Department joined a stellar group of partners: the municipality of Cascais (hosting partner), bsi (Platinum Partner), Mastercard (SIGA Women Sunset Lounge partner), Visit Cascais – Cascais Tourism Board (VIP reception partner), SCC – Sociedade Central de Cervejas (Official Drinks Suplier), Abreu, Galera.bet, Portuguese Sports Foundation (Session partners), Intercontinental Estoril-Cascais, Sheraton Cascais (official accommodation Partners), as well as organisations such as the Portuguese National Olympic Committee, among many others who are all contributing to the success of the event.

Emanuel Macedo de Medeiros, the Global CEO of SIGA, commented:

“Having Santa Casa da Misericórdia de Lisboa Gaming Department partnering with the Sport Integrity Week 2022 and joining efforts with SIGA to promote Sport Integrity is of great significance. The work they have undertaken over the last 576 years bears testament to their impact and commitment as a forward thinking organisation. Joining #SIW2022 further demonstrates their strong leadership and commitment to the Integrity needs of the Sport Industry. This unification consecrates our shared commitment to promote and implement the highest possible standards throughout the Sports Betting Industry and other areas of mutual interest. I have no doubt that both SIGA and the Holy Mercy of Lisbon will together facilitate great Integrity progress as a result of this long-term partnership”.

Edmundo Martinho, Chairman, SCML stated:

Santa Casa da Misericórdia de Lisboa, as the entity responsible for managing the State’s Social Games, has always sought to adopt cutting-edge practices and innovative methodologies regarding transparency and integrity in the area of sports betting. It is therefore only natural that the Gaming Department of Santa Casa now takes another important step in reinforcing this policy of rigour and sports demands.

As the Chairman of Santa Casa, I view with great enthusiasm the partnership with SIGA, an international reference organisation in the defence of integrity and truth in sport.”
