Emanuel Macedo de Medeiros, Co-Founder and Global CEO of the Sport Integrity Global Alliance (SIGA), delivered a keynote address at the EHC Hockey Business Forum in Bratislava, Slovakia, calling for stronger governance, greater accountability and independent scrutiny across the sports industry.
Organised by the Alliance of European Hockey Clubs (EHC), the Forum brought together leading representatives of European and international ice hockey, including senior officials from the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF), the National Hockey League (NHL), clubs, leagues and national federations.
During his address, Macedo de Medeiros presented SIGA’s Universal Standards on Sport Integrity, the Gap Analysis methodology and the SIGA Independent Rating and Verification System (SIRVS), highlighting how these instruments provide sports organisations with a clear pathway from identifying governance shortcomings to implementing reforms and achieving independent certification.
He also introduced the SIGA Sport Club Network, a global platform designed to empower clubs through collaboration, knowledge-sharing and the adoption of best practices in governance, integrity and sustainable development.
At the heart of his message was a clear call to action: every sports organisation, regardless of its size, discipline or geographical location, must be governed according to the highest standards of integrity and be able to demonstrate, through credible and independent verification, that it is genuinely fit for purpose.
The message reinforced SIGA’s commitment to moving sport beyond declarations of principle towards measurable progress, institutional accountability and independently verified integrity.
