The SIGA Members, gathered at a extradinary General Assembly this week, have unanimously elected the members of the organisation’s Audit & Compliance Committee and Ethics Committee for the new 4-year cycle 2023 – 2027.

Bettina Tucci Bartsiotas, former United Nations Assistant Secretary General and Controller and immediate past Director of the United Nations Interregional Crime and Research Institute, as elected Chair of the SIGA Audit & Compliance Committee, while Fernando Veiga Gomes, who served a s Deputy Chair of the Ethics Committee during the previous term, was now elected Chair.

The full composition of the new elected internal organs are as follows:

SIGA Audit & Compliance Committee:

  • Bettina Tucci Bartsiotas, former United Nations Assistant Secretary General and Controller | former Director, United Nations Interregional Crime and Research Institute (Chair) 
  • Richard Gordon, Professor of Practice at the Thunderbird School of Global Management, Arizona State University |
  • Vítor Vale, Managing Partner, Bizarro do Vale, & Associados

SIGA Ethics Committee 

  • Fernando Veiga Gomes, Partner, Abreu Advogados (Chair)
  • Donna Goldsworthy, Partner, Fieldfisher (Deputy Chair)
  • Tiago Gomes, Partner, Ambiel, Belfiore, Gomes, Hanna Advogados

Commenting on her election, Bettina Tucci Trastsiotas stated:

“I am very pleased to be collaborating with SIGA as Chair of the Audit and Compliance Committee. The goals of the Committee mirror SIGA’s Sports Integrity Goals: to ensure good governance, accountability and scrutiny. I look forward to bringing my knowledge and expertise to this committee and working with Vitor Vale and Richard Gordon to continue to strengthen the governance and internal controls of SIGA.” 

Fernando Veiga Gomes, elected Chair of the Ethics Committee, stated:

I’ve had the privilege of working with SIGA as president of the Sports Law Commission of SIGA’s Committed Supporter, the International Union of Lawyers (UIA), and as Chair of SIGA Europe’s General Assembly. It is now an honour to be appointed to such an important role. I will do my very best to honour this role and the tasks emanating from it, and am looking forward to working with all SIGA stakeholders further advance Sport Integrity worldwide”.
