The Sport Integrity Global Alliance (SIGA) is launching its #BePositive! campaign today, coinciding the International Day of Sport for Development and Peace.
In pursuance of the #SIGASTRIVES global call for action, #BePositive! aims at showing the power of sport as a force for good and encouraging SIGA’s Members, Committed Supporters and Partners, as well as the wider sporting community, to focus on positive initiatives and create positive news stories.
With the vast majority of media attention focused on the global coronavirus pandemic and the devasting impact on the health and wellbeing of all citizens, with grave economic ramifications, SIGA intends to shine a light on those sports organisations and individuals that are doing great things during this crisis. The new SIGA #BePositive! campaign will do precisely this.
Once a week it will gather and echo positive news stories in the sports sector to motivate and inspire the sporting community and beyond, starting today, with a collection of thirty #BePositive news that demonstrates the selfless, courageous and humanitarian acts that the sports industry across the world is doing during this unprecedented time. If you have a #BePositive! Initiative, then please send to firstname.lastname@example.org.
This is the eighth in a set of thirty boosting measures and initiatives being announced and developed by SIGA as part of the Alliance’s new global campaign #SIGASTRIVES.
Emanuel Macedo de Medeiros, CEO of SIGA and Chairman and CEO of SIGA AMERICA, stressed:
“We are bombarded every day with shocking headlines and negative news. While it’s important to report the problems, so is the positive developments. There is much good being done around world and impressive examples of resilience, solidarity, selflessness and positivity. They must be promoted just as equality. People need every reason to believe that we can go through and overcome this brutal crisis, and Sport – Clean Sport – can give them plenty.”
SIGA STRIVES Measure #9 will be announced later this week! Stay tuned.
