Daniela Castro, Chief Operating Officer of SIGA LATIN AMERICA officially introduced the continental branch of SIGA to the Brazilian Federal Government, during a meeting in Brasilia with the Minister of Sport, Ana Moser.
Launched in July 2022, SIGA LATIN AMERICA is the third regional structure of SIGA (Sport Integrity Global Alliance), after SIGA AMERICA and SIGA EUROPE.
During the meeting, Daniela Castro presented the organization’s action plan and agenda for 2023, and extended an invitation to the Minister to participate in the opening session of the SIGA Sport Integrity Forum, a global SIGA event scheduled to be held in June 2023 in São Paulo.
SIGA LATIN AMERICA’s COO emphasized the importance of the Federal Government’s involvement in issues related to integrity, transparency, and good governance in sport. Daniela Castro made the entire international qualified structure of SIGA LATIN AMERICA available to the Federal Government for partnerships focused on issues of integrity and development of sport, with the exchange of information, knowledge, participation in working groups, and willingness to contribute to issues in which SIGA is recognized, such as improvements in governance and integrity, regulation of sports betting, creation of sports leagues, SIRVS (SIGA Independent Rating and Verification System), protection of youth, as well as support in studies and research.
“The resumption of the Ministry of Sports is of utmost importance for the development of sports as a tool for social inclusion and promotion of citizenship, and it is therefore fundamental that sports be an example in integrity and good governance,” said Daniela Castro. “We couldn’t have a better person to command the portfolio than Ana Moser, a professional committed to Brazil and to the evolution of sport,” concluded the executive.
