SIGA formalises landmark cooperation with Brazilian Government Congress and UN Women
SIGA LATIN AMERICA takes central stage in Brazil this week with an action-packed agenda of meetings and thought leadership events. These activities will culminate in the formalisation of several high-profile and strategic cooperations with leading entities at governmental and international level.
Established in July 2022, following the creation of SIGA AMERICA and SIGA EUROPE, SIGA’s latest continental arm is leading the way for Sport Integrity in the region, galvanising further support of the global business community that have united around strong principles of only investing in Sports organisations that embody the highest integrity standards. This year Accor, C6 Bank, Passarelli, and Sicredi joined SIGA as members from the region, with several more new members in the pipeline.
On Wednesday, 14th June, SIGA´s Global CEO and Chairman and CEO of SIGA LATIN AMERICA, Emanuel Macedo de Medeiros, will deliver a keynote speech during a special CEO´s Dinner, hosted by Pacto pelo Esporte.
SIGA LATIN AMERICA Launch
During the event, SIGA and SIGA LATIN AMERICA will sign a landmark Memorandum of Understanding with the Government of Brazil. This signing ceremony will be preceded by paying homage, at posthumous title, to João Paulo Diniz, the charismatic immediate-past President of Pacto pelo Esporte. The event will bring together influential leaders from various sectors, including CEOs of the most relevant sponsors from Brazil and Latin America, Sports authorities, clubs and elite athletes.
During this week, SIGA will showcase to the Sporting industry its’ tailored Universal Standards on Sport Integrity and its’ independent rating and verification system, SIRVS, as a solution to safeguard the integrity, reputation and credibility of Sport, in Brazil and globally. SIGA will shortly translate its’ standards into Portuguese and Spanish to further facilitate their adoption and implementation across the region and better equip an independent audit team to deliver training, education and capacity building to Sports organisations and collaboratively work with them through the SIRVS Programme by way of continual improvement.
As part of its’ governance drive for greater gender diversity and inclusion on the board of Sports organisations, SIGA and the UN Women will formalise their existing excellent relationship with the official signing of an action-orientated Memorandum of Understanding aimed at promoting good governance, gender equity and female leadership in Sport.
On Thursday, 15th June, all roads will lead to Brasilia, where the Congress will hold a Special Session to mark the official launch of the Parliamentary Coalition on the Modernization of Football. SIGA’s Global CEO and Chairman and CEO of SIGA LATIN AMERICA will deliver the keynote speech and share his strategic vision and proposed reforms for the modernization, professionalization and further development of Brazilian football, emphasizing the importance of integrity in shaping a sustainable future for Brazilian football. Key institutions, such as the Ministry of Sports and the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF), will also share their insights on the topic.
