The Sport Integrity Global Alliance (SIGA) today announced the formal opening of its 2026 electoral process, focusing on the election of the SIGA Global Chief Executive Officer (Global CEO) and the members of two of its Permanent Committees: the Ethics Committee and the Audit & Compliance Committee.
The electoral process is governed by the SIGA Constitution and the SIGA Electoral Regulations, which set out the applicable eligibility criteria, procedures and voting requirements, in line with SIGA’s commitment to good governance, transparency and institutional integrity.
In accordance with these rules, the electoral process will be overseen by an Ad Hoc Electoral Committee. This is responsible for supervising and ensuring the independence, integrity, transparency and proper conduct of entire electoral process.
The internal organs to be elected as part of this process are:
- SIGA Global CEO;
- SIGA Ethics Committee; and
- SIGA Audit & Compliance Committee.
The key deadlines for the 2026 electoral process are as follows:
- Written submission of candidacies: Wednesday, 11 March 2026
- Election by the SIGA Council: Monday, 16 March 2026
- Ratification of elections by the SIGA General Assembly: Thursday, 26 March 2026
This electoral process ensures transparency, accountability and strong democratic legitimacy across the Association’s leadership and oversight bodies.
The electoral process for SIGA’s Global CEO follows a two-round process: first, the Council elects a candidate and, subsequently, the election is submitted to the General Assembly of Members for ratification, requiring a two-thirds majority. This two-stage process reinforces the democratic legitimacy of the Global CEO’s election, ensuring it reflects both effective the highest governance standards and robust democratic support, giving Members a central role in confirming the leadership of the Association. At the same General Assembly, Members will also elect the members of SIGA’s Ethics Committee and Audit & Compliance Committee, upon the Council’s proposal.
The results will be publicly announced immediately after.
