Liga Portugal’s Football Foundation will host the Sport Integrity Matchday in partnership with the Sport Integrity Global Alliance (SIGA). This initiative forms part of the Sport Integrity Matchday and reaffirms both organisations’ shared commitment to promoting ethics, transparency, and good governance in Sport.

Under the motto “Together for Integrity in Sport,” the action will take place throughout the 10th matchday of the Liga Portugal Betclic and Liga Portugal 2 Meu Super, involving all professional clubs. The central highlight will be the signing of the “Charter for Integrity”, endorsed by the captains of every team, as previously done in 2022. This document represents a collective pledge to uphold the noblest values of sport, promoting respect, fair play, and sporting truth.

During the matches, following the pre-game line-up, the starting players of each team will pose next to the campaign’s banner — “Together for Integrity in Sport” — for an official photograph, visually reinforcing the message of unity and ethical responsibility within professional football.

Through this initiative, Fundação do Futebol – Liga Portugal and SIGA underline the importance of integrity as a cornerstone of a fairer, more transparent, and exemplary game.

Following Liga Portugal’s 2023 certification under SIGA’s Independent Rating and Verification System (SIRVS) for Good Governance in Sport, the Journey for Integrity in Sport marks another milestone in the ongoing collaboration between Liga Portugal – Fundação do Futebol and SIGA: two partners firmly committed to promoting integrity and trust in sport, while preserving football as a space for inclusion, achievement, and merit.

Emanuel Macedo de Medeiros, SIGA Global CEO, highlighted Liga Portugal’s leading role among its global counterparts in the field of Sport Integrity:

“SIGA proudly marks the launch of the Sport Integrity Action Month, celebrating the global commitment to integrity in sport. With Liga Portugal at the forefront — and the enthusiastic engagement of national clubs, sports companies, players, referees, and fans — Portuguese football once again sets an inspiring example of leadership and commitment, reflecting a clear determination to strengthen a culture of responsibility and integrity.

We take this opportunity to once again commend Liga Portugal’s contribution, as the first professional league in the world to adopt SIGA’s Universal Standards on Good Governance in Sport and to achieve SIRVS Certification — a milestone that continues to inspire other organisations to follow this path.

SIGA welcomes the growing global mobilisation around this cause and calls upon everyone to ensure that every action, decision, and victory — on and off the field — is guided by the values that make sport a pillar of trust and credibility. Because integrity is not just a principle — it is the legacy we leave to future generations.”

Reinaldo Teixeira, President of Liga Portugal, reaffirmed the organisation’s commitment to integrity and transparency:

“This is a way to give voice to all those who fight every day for better football — one built on truth and integrity. May the best team win, but always with sportsmanship and, above all, with sporting truth. For better, fairer, and more honest football.”
