First ever elected Chairwoman of The FA in its history joins the stellar line up of industry leaders!

With one month to go,  SIGA is delighted to announce Debbie Hewitt, Chair of The FA, as the first confirmed speaker at the SIGA Summit on Female Leadership in Sport. Hosted by Mastercard for the second year, this prestigious thought leadership event will be held on March 7th, in New York City.

Debbie Hewitt is the first woman to Chair the Football Association of England (known as The FA). Formed in 1863, The FA is the oldest and one of most prestigious football association in the world. Elected Chair in July 2021, Debbie Hewitt has been instrumental in driving change and advancing the position of women in football. Her insights and expertise will be invaluable to attendees of the Summit, while setting the pace for SIGA’s ground-breaking thought leadership event.

The SIGA Summit on Female Leadership in Sport will bring together some of the most influential stakeholders in the industry to discuss the challenges and opportunities facing women in leadership roles in sport, including but not limited to Good Governance, Female Leadership in Action, Athlete Activism, Mentorship, Youth Development and Protection of Female Athletes, and Commercialising Women’s Sport.

The summit will provide a platform for attendees to share their experiences, exchange ideas and connect with like-minded individuals, both in person and digitally.

Featuring live panels, keynote speeches, and one-on-one interviews with high-profile industry leaders, the Summit aims to celebrate International Women’s Day, as a part of SIGA’s ongoing efforts to drive positive change – including the #SIGAWomen Global Mentorship Programme, currently in its fifth annual cycle.

Commenting on her participation, Debbie Hewitt stated:

As the first female Chair of The FA, I am excited to play my part in shaping the future of football and ensure that we maximise the power of football to be a force for good in society. England hosted the Women’s Euros in 2022 – this was a powerful opportunity to engage, inspire and unite, creating a meaningful opportunity to help women’s football flourish on the pitch and to bring momentum to more effective diversity and inclusion leadership in sport. The FA is passionate about achieving more effective representation at every level of the game and I am delighted to participate in the 2023 SIGA Summit on Female Leadership in Sport to discuss how this can be achieved.”

We are honoured to welcome the Chairwoman of the The FA, Debbie Hewitt MBE, as our guest speaker at the SIGA Summit,” said Katie Simmonds, SIGA COO and Managing Director of the SIGA Women Programme. “Debbie Hewitt’s exceptional leadership, foresight and experience will be an invaluable addition to the conversation. She will undoubtedly  inspire  both the current and the next generation of female leaders in Sport.”

The SIGA Summit on Female Leadership in Sport will be an unforgettable thought leadership event, filled with informed and engaging discussions, networking opportunities and thought-provoking insights.
