London, 13 July 2021: SIGA, the world’s leading coalition for sport integrity keeps growing fast, as new members pledge their commitment to the global movement and its reform agenda.  Market leading gambling blocking software, Gamban, is the latest member to join the Sport Integrity Global Alliance, partnering with more than 100 other members, supporters and partners from the worlds of sport, business, government and civil society.

Providing a neutral and independent platform for all those who want to see sport governed and operated under the highest integrity standards, free from corruption, match-fixing, money-laundering and child abuse, SIGA urges all like-minded organisatons and individuals from the entire sporting industry to join their call for action and unite around one central mission: Clean Sport for All.

Speaking of behalf of SIGA, Global CEO Emanuel Macedo de Medeiros stated:

These last eighteen Covid-months have been devasting for the whole sporting industry, and there is no guarantee as to what the future will look like. Sport is in deep crisis and needs urgent help to get back on its feet. For that to happen, the whole industry must finally act as a united front and recover with integrity.

We are therefore delighted to welcome Gamban as our newest member, and look forward to working closely with them, especially in the field of sports betting integrity where their knowledge, expertise and advanced technology can make the difference.  We are enthused with the prospects ahead.”

Gamban, Director of External Affairs, Matt Zarb-Cousin, emphasised his commitment to SIGA’s mission:

Gamban is delighted to become the latest member of the Sport Integrity Global Alliance. As the integration between sports and gambling continues to increase worldwide, Gamban has joined forces with SIGA to highlight the impact of gambling harm on the mental health of sportspeople, fans basis, and the wider community. Other vulnerabilities may arise, including match-fixing. We also acknowledge Sports’ promotion of gambling has impacted young fans.

Gamban is designed to be the first step towards recovery from addiction, blocking thousands of gambling websites and apps globally.

As more jurisdictions begin to legalize gambling, there would be an increased risk to sports Integrity. We are keen to highlight issues that may arise from the intersection between gambling and sport and tackle them effectively.

We look forward to contributing to SIGA’s working groups established to deal with this growing issue.

ABOUT GAMBAN

Since 2015, Gamban has gone from strength to strength, setting the standard in gambling blocking software. Used by thousands of people worldwide, Gamban has received an overwhelming amount of positive feedback, with some users informing the team that it has literally saved lives. Taking the first step continues to be the hardest challenge and much of our time goes into making Gamban as simple and straightforward to install as possible.

In 2018 GambleAware commissioned independent research to evaluate the effectiveness of blocking software and to compare existing products. Gamban emerged the most effective and, as a result, Gamban has been provided free of charge through all Gamcare support networks in the UK. In 2018, Gamban was awarded Software Rising Star Award at the EGR B2B Awards and in 2019, Gamban won RegTech Provider of the Year at The GamblingCompliance Global Regulatory Awards.

Gamban is designed to be a first step towards recovery from addiction, blocking thousands of gambling websites and apps globally. It is designed to be as difficult to remove as possible, but promotes a layered approach to assist with gambling cessation. In the UK, Gamban has partnered with GAMSTOP – the national self-exclusion register – and GamCare, the leading treatment provider, forming the TalkBanStop pilot. This has made Gamban free for all callers to the National Gambling Helpline.  Gamban is not intended to be a standalone solution and the team continue to work extensively to connect schemes, tools and initiatives, ensuring that recovery from gambling addiction is both possible and achievable.
