Millions of fans in stadiums and through global broadcasts joined the celebration of Integrity in Sport during the latest round of the Portuguese League. The initiative, led by the Fundação do Futebol – Liga Portugal, was part of the Sport Integrity Action Month, promoted by the Sport Integrity Global Alliance (SIGA).
Returning from Latin America, where he took part in several initiatives held under the Sport Integrity Action Month, Emanuel Macedo de Medeiros, SIGA Global CEO, attended the FC Porto vs SC Braga match at the Estádio do Dragão. He was joined by Reinaldo Teixeira (President, Liga Portugal), André Villas-Boas (President, FC Porto), and António Salvador (President, SC Braga), participating actively in the initiative that placed Integrity in Sport at the centre of Portuguese football.
During the Portuguese League Sport Integrity Match Day, team captains across all professional fixtures signed a Charter for Integrity, symbolizing their collective commitment to fair play, transparency, and ethical conduct in football.
With 11 of the 18 league fixtures completed, the message of integrity reached millions of people worldwide, both in stadiums and via television.
SIGA continues to encourage all sports organizations to join this global movement by adopting its Universal Standards on Sport Integrity and undergoing the SIGA Independent Rating and Verification System (SIRVS).
