Emanuel Macedo de Medeiros, Global CEO of the Sport Integrity Global Alliance and President and CEO of SIGA LATIN AMERICA, met today, in Rio de Janeiro, with Samir Xaud, President of the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF). The meeting marks a new milestone in the cooperation between the two institutions, consolidating the agreement signed in March 2024 and reaffirming the joint commitment to integrity, good governance, and the modernization of Brazilian football.
The meeting was guided by a frank, constructive, and convergent dialogue, focused on the strategic priorities that will shape the future of football in Brazil. The leaders of SIGA and CBF addressed areas of priority cooperation, with special emphasis on Good Governance, Sports Betting Integrity, Financial Integrity and Transparency, Sustainability, and the Professionalization of Football — domains in which SIGA holds recognized expertise and global leadership.
With a three-decade career on the front line of European and world football, Emanuel Macedo de Medeiros is the founder and was the elected CEO, for more than a decade, of the Association of European Leagues and the World Leagues Association, which bring together all professional football leagues at European and global levels. Throughout his professional trajectory, he has held leadership positions in institutions such as the Portuguese Professional Football League, UEFA, FIFA, World Economic Forum, European Commission, Council of Europe, OECD, B20, and the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS/TAS), among others. His vast experience and recognized leadership consolidate SIGA as a global reference in the defense of integrity, good governance, and sustainability in sport.
During the meeting, the President & CEO of SIGA LATIN AMERICA also presented the progress achieved by the organization in Brazil as a result of cooperation agreements signed with the Ministry of Sport, the Ministry of Finance, the Office of the Comptroller General, the São Paulo Football Federation, and the CBF itself, in addition to several other public and private entities. He also highlighted the Cooperation Agreement signed with the National Congress, through the Parliamentary Front for the Modernization of Football, which requested SIGA LATIN AMERICA to prepare an independent study on the future of Brazilian football, including an analysis of the functioning, organization, and competencies of professional leagues, as well as the legal admissibility of creating a professional football league in Brazil.
“This meeting reinforced the shared commitment between SIGA and CBF to a future of excellence, integrity, and modernization for Brazilian football. President Samir Xaud demonstrated leadership, strategic vision, and a reformist spirit, which deserve my recognition. SIGA, as an independent organization and the world leader in sports integrity, is committed to supporting CBF with its knowledge, experience, and global networks, contributing to the implementation of best practices and solutions that strengthen good governance, integrity, and sustainability in Brazilian football,” stated Emanuel Macedo de Medeiros after the meeting.
