The members of SIGA LATIN AMERICA unanimously approved the set of strategic instruments that will guide the organisation’s activities throughout 2026, including the Action Plan and Budget for the coming year, consolidating a cycle of sustained growth and reinforcing its institutional influence across the region.
The decisions were adopted during the Annual General Assembly of SIGA LATIN AMERICA, which brought together member representatives to assess the progress achieved to date and define priorities for the next cycle of activities.
The year 2025 was marked by tangible progress in establishing SIGA LATIN AMERICA as a leading regional platform for sport integrity, with key highlights including:
- The signing of cooperation agreements with the Office of the Comptroller General (CGU) and the Ministry of Sport of Brazil, reinforcing SIGA’s role as an independent interlocutor in policy development;
- Launch and Consolidation of FAIR – Forum on Betting, Integrity and Regulation, bringing together SIGA LATIN AMERICA’s betting operator members in regular meetings throughout the year;
- The organisation of the International Expert Summit on Sports Betting & Integrity, held as part of Sports Summit São Paulo;
- Regional leadership in the Sport Integrity Action Month, with Latin America accounting for approximately 30% of global initiatives;
- The publication of a special edition of the Sport Integrity Journal dedicated to sports betting in Brazil;
- Progress in the Independent Study on the Future of Football in Brazil, including the presentation to the Chamber of Deputies’ Sports Commission of a comparative analysis of international legislation on governance and league organisation.
The General Assembly also approved the Annual Report of Activities and the Financial Report for 2025, reflecting a year of institutional consolidation, expansion of activities, and growing public and media recognition of the integrity agenda promoted by SIGA LATIN AMERICA.
For 2026, in addition to approving the Action Plan, members unanimously defined the following strategic priorities:
- Consolidate SIGA LATIN AMERICA as a leading authority and dominant reference in integrity and good governance in sport at both continental and national levels;
- Implement SIGA’s continental reform agenda and its strategic projects;
- Strengthen technical capacity through SIRVS (including Gap Analysis) and the delivery of services via SIGA SOLUTIONS;
- Deliver high-impact regional events for members and the broader sports industry;
- Enhance participation, visibility and cooperation across strategic platforms;
- Strengthen advocacy, communications and knowledge production;
- Reinforce multi-stakeholder cooperation and support reform processes across Latin America.
Emanuel Macedo de Medeiros, Chairman and CEO of SIGA LATIN AMERICA, highlighted the progress achieved in 2025 and the ambition for the year ahead:
“The results achieved in 2025 demonstrate that sport integrity has moved beyond an abstract principle to become a concrete agenda, with regulatory, institutional and economic impact. In 2026, our focus will be to deepen this impact, consolidating partnerships, expanding our footprint and accelerating the implementation of structural solutions for the sector.”
The Annual General Assembly also provided an opportunity to align members around the calendar of initiatives planned for 2026, which will include strategic events, capacity-building activities and new regional cooperation initiatives.
With the active support of its members and institutional partners, SIGA LATIN AMERICA will continue to play a central role in promoting a more transparent, accountable and sustainable sports ecosystem across the region.
