Bringing together close to 200 participants, SIGA successfully concluded two days of initiatives in Lisbon, Portugal, dedicated to advancing Sport Integrity, in a positive and forward-looking environment.

Reinforcing its role as a platform for knowledge-sharing, collaboration and high-level networking among its Members, while also engaging its growing community of committed supporters, SIGA hosted two exclusive events on Monday.

The SIGA Members Club Workshop, hosted by Liga Portugal, gathered around 20 participants in a private setting designed to foster open dialogue, exchange of best practices and the identification of practical solutions. Contributions were delivered by committed supporters Liga Portugal, represented by its Executive Director André Mosqueira do Amaral, and the Portuguese Professional Footballers Union, represented by its President, Joaquim Evangelista.

Valuable insights were also shared by SIGA Members, including Andida Bouma, Treasurer of European Aquatics; David McVeigh, Project Director – Operational Planning at the Qatar Stars League; Miguel Gouveia de Brito, CEO of TrueClinic; Martin Bland, Commercial Director at StreamAMG; and Sebastian Dieguez, Head of Public Affairs at Chiliz.

The day concluded with the SIGA Members Club Dinner Debate, an exclusive, invitation-only gathering held in a refined setting in the historic centre of Lisbon, providing a more informal environment for continued discussion and relationship-building.

Proceedings resumed on 14 April with the SIGA Annual General Assembly, hosted by PwC Portugal at the iconic Palácio Sotto Mayor, in Lisbon. During the session, Members unanimously approved the 2026–2030 Global Strategy, Key Priorities and Action Plan, while also ratifying, by acclamation, the election of Emanuel Macedo de Medeiros as Global CEO for a third and final mandate. The Assembly further reinforced SIGA’s governance framework, confirmed key institutional structures, and provided updates on flagship initiatives, including the Sport Transparency Index, the SIGA Women Programme and the implementation model of SIRVS. A clear mandate was set for the next phase: moving from institutional consolidation to delivery, with a focus on implementation, certification and measurable impact in advancing Sport Integrity worldwide.

The two-day programme concluded with the inaugural edition of the SIGA EUROPE Cycle of Debates – The Future of Sport in Europe, also hosted at PwC Portugal.

Held in Lisbon, the initiative brought together a broad range of senior decision-makers and experts from across the European and international sport ecosystem to address the most pressing structural challenges facing the sector. Discussions focused on the future of the European Sport Model — including governance, economic sustainability and the impact of new investment dynamics — as well as on countering criminal infiltration in sport in an increasingly fragmented geopolitical landscape. Further sessions explored the role of technology and innovation, including data and artificial intelligence, in safeguarding integrity, and the responsibility of global brands and sponsors in promoting ethical standards.

The debates featured contributions from leading institutional figures and senior executives representing leagues, federations, international organisations, integrity bodies and private sector stakeholders. Notable interventions included António Brochado Correia, Helena Pires, Joaquim Evangelista and Reinaldo Teixeira, alongside experts from organisations such as UEFA, European Leagues and World Aquatics, ensuring discussions that were substantive, multidisciplinary and focused on practical outcomes.
