Delivering on its promise to set in motion a series of thought leadership initiatives to accelerate gender equity, diversity and inclusiveness in the governance of Sport, SIGA unveils today an action-packed roadmap to empower women and foster equal opportunities in the access to leadership roles.

The date of the announcement could not have been more symbolic. The 7th of June was chosen to coincide with the official kick-off of the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup in France.

The SIGA Global Agenda for Female Empowerment and Leadership 2020 / 2021 describes a series of initiatives that have been developed by the organisation over the past two years, as well as the catalogue of initiatives that will be actioned over the next twelve months, including, amongst others:

  • The launch of the 2020/21 SIGA Global Mentorship Programme for Aspiring Female Leaders in Sport: a worldwide mentorship programme to support and encourage future female leaders to reach their objectives and achieve their potential;
  • The SIGA 2020 Survey on Female Representation on International Federations;
  • A special edition of 4 Questions for 4 Leaders on “What Will it Take to Make a Woman President in Sport? Current Challenges & Future Perspectives”;
  • Women in Action – a new digital conference series that SIGA will produce to showcasing female leaders in action on key topics related to SIGA’s reform agenda; and
  • #SIGAWomen – another new initiative to be launched by SIGA with the aim of telling the story of exceptional female leaders, pay them homage on behalf of SIGA and inspire younger generations.
