The Sport Integrity Global Alliance (SIGA) has officially opened applications for the third class of the SIGA Youth Council (SYC). Established in 2020, the SYC aims to engage the youth in SIGA’s reform agenda, drive Good Governance in Sport, and offer aspiring young leaders a unique platform to have their voices heard on issues related to Sport Integrity.

The first two cycles of the SIGA Youth Council have laid a formidable foundation, bringing together young leaders from various continents and backgrounds to design, deliver, and implement a range of impactful projects, initiatives, and events, including a dedicated SIGA Youth Forum (2021 and 2023). Building on this success, the 2022-2023 class expanded its reach and influence, culminating in the release of the first-ever “SIGA Youth Council Survey: New Perceptions on Sport Integrity.”

The new 18-month term will commence in July 2024. Key milestones include appointing Chair, Vice-Chair, and Secretary, and establishing an autonomous Action Plan. The SIGA Youth Council will also be responsible, for hosting a youth-driven thought-leadership event during Sport Integrity Week 2024, in November.

SYC members will be able to contribute, according to their interests, in areas such as research projects, policy documents, public speaking engagements, event management, social media campaigns, podcasts, stakeholder relationship building, and report of activities.

As part of their participation in the SIGA Youth Council, the selected members will:

  • Develop leadership and advocacy skills;
  • Set strategic goals including fundraising, social media campaigns, and partnerships;
  • Expand networks in the sports industry, including SIGA’s global community;
  • Opportunity to apply for internships at SIGA and with our members;
  • Develop knowledge in Sport Integrity and showcase abilities and dedication; and
  • Engage in broader Thought Leadership activities and events such as the Sport Integrity Week, SIGA Youth Forum, Sport Integrity Journal, and the #SIGAWoW show

Starting on 27 May, the application period will close on 28 June 2024. The SIGAYouth Council is designed for aspiring and early career young individuals aged 18-29 who are passionate about Sport Integrity and Good Governance reform. Ideal candidates should have a keen interest in Sport, a positive and proactive attitude, a creative approach to global problems, and the ability to work both autonomously and as part of a team.
