The Portuguese Municipality of  Cascais and the Sport Integrity Global Alliance sealed a long term relationship by entering into a Memorandum of Understanding, with both organisations committing to fostering efforts to promote Sport Integrity and SIGA’s reform agenda regionally in Portugal.

The far-reaching agreement signed by Cascais Mayor Carlos Carreiras and SIGA’s Global CEO Emanuel Macedo de Medeiros aims at strengthening the cooperation launched in 2021, when the Municipality of Cascais provided support to SIGA’S executive team during last year’s Sport Integrity Week.

Sharing values, and working together, SIGA and Cascais agreed to promote the adoption of SIGA’s Universal Standards on Sport Integrity. Significantly the parties agreed the following important decisions that are decisive to the future of SIGA EUROPE that was incorporated last year as part of SIGA’s continental approach:

  • Cascais and SIGA agreed to organise the next three editions of the Sport Integrity Week in Cascais, starting this year, at Nova School of Business and Economics, Carcavelos;
  • SIGA EUROPE to establish HQ in Cascais, with the support of the Municipality.

Carlos Carreiras, Mayor, Cascais Municipality, shared his views:

“Cascais is fully committed to SIGA values, and this partnership is part of the policy we have developed and which has already led us to host several international organisations, such as the Portuguese Diaspora Council or the Nossa Europa Association. Cascais thus emerges as a hub of international organisations”.
