From Vision to Action: A Month for Sport Integrity
By Nuno Perestrelo
Senior Director of Communications, Media & Events, SIGA
November marks the second edition of Sport Integrity Action Month, a SIGA initiative designed to place best practices for building a sport ecosystem founded on integrity firmly on the global agenda.
The objective is clear: to mobilise the sector around one essential principle — without integrity, there is no sport. Good governance, financial integrity, sports betting integrity, youth development and protection in sport, sustainability, diversity, gender equality and, increasingly, the use of Artificial Intelligence are creating challenges across every geography and at every level.
The good news is that, for almost every challenge faced by one organisation, there are likely to be tried-and-tested solutions in a neighbouring city, on another continent or even in another hemisphere. These challenges are not unique to any one country, club or federation.
Through Sport Integrity Action Month, SIGA is inviting federations, leagues, clubs, sport sponsors, media, governments and fans — everyone directly or indirectly connected to sport — to step forward and demonstrate their commitment to sport integrity. To collaborate with others facing similar challenges. And to benefit from the experience and knowledge accumulated by fellow participants.
In previous years — first under its predecessor, Sport Integrity Week, and then, in 2025, as Sport Integrity Action Month — high-impact initiatives such as the Game for Integrity, organised by São Paulo FC together with SIGA; the Journey for Integrity, promoted by Liga Portugal; and dozens of other initiatives brought greater visibility to an issue that must be a priority for the sport industry.
Congresses, roundtables, digital sessions, anti-piracy manifestos, public commitments to integrity and other initiatives brought together experts from the different fields that make sport an increasingly multidisciplinary ecosystem. 2025 also saw the inaugural SIGA Sport Integrity Awards take place in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Last year was also marked by events across Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Trinidad and Tobago, the United States, Nigeria, Ghana, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Malaysia, India, Australia, Spain, Switzerland, England, Italy, Cyprus and, of course, Portugal.
In 2026, the invitation is renewed: under the banner of a month dedicated to Sport Integrity, and with SIGA’s support, the aim is to bring together people and organisations that share a common vision and mission — to take our collective efforts further, ensuring that sport has a future and that this future is built on the highest principles.
